Sales Transactions: In order
to spur sales and make purchasing as easy as possible for potential
customers, we provide the option of handling sales transactions on
your behalf. If you choose to use our services, which includes taking
credit cards, there will only be a 5% surcharge in order to cover our
costs in labor, card fees, supplies, etc. The process will be that
you fill out an order form (contained in the Welcome Kit you get at
the Artist Registration Table), provide it to the customer, they bring
it to the Main Tent for payment by whatever means, we provide them
with a proof of purchase which they provide to you in order to pick
up the work they paid for, you keep that receipt for your records,
and we send you a check in the mail within a few weeks. We do not take any
commissions for this or any other service.
Lodging: There are
many scenic areas with wonderful B&Bs in the
region and
A Peaceable Kingdom B&B has agreed to provide artists with
special rates.
Visit the Amherst Area Chamber
of Commerce for further information. For the Pittsfield area you
can find details at the City
website or
the Berkshires Visitors Bureau.
Free Parking: Slots will be provided
to you at no charge immediately next to your sidewalk tent wherever
possible and no farther than about 50' away where no street parking
is possible. You will receive your tent assignments via email before
your show with a link to an online map of downtown showing your location.
Stop at our Registration Table at the Common green sidewalk on South
Pleasant to pick up your Welcome Kit and get directions to your free
slot (where you should see a meter bag with "No Parking").
Misc. Services: There will be
volunteers circulating to answer questions and solve problems, watch
your booth for breaks, or be a runner for something you need.
Your Welcome Kit will include phone numbers for contacting the Main
Tent and the primary trouble-shooters. Bring a cell phone if you
will be coming alone. We will distribute menus of participating restaurants
and try to have discounted lunch orders delivered to your tent. Before
Saturday breakdown at 6pm, we will circulate to see if artists are interested
in gathering at a local restaurant for a group dinner.
Promotions: Our promotion campaign
includes more than $100,000 of advertising, a 10,000 piece mailing
to art professionals, and a comprehensive internet campaign, but
we are always open to any suggestions.
